I can't believe this is the last reflections post before New Orleans! It doesn't seem real yet. Like I'm not really going to embark on this final part of the journey but it is less than 3 weeks away! March has been busy! Oddly enough, I've felt an increase in energy during the week but, the weekends basically leave me feeling spent. Here are more thoughts on how March went:
Word of the month: Stronger, this month I've definitely met some personal goals and have not been in as much pain so I am starting to feel stronger and more confident.
Jamming out to: Podcasts, I'm obsessed with This American Life, Car Talk and Stuff You Should Know
Sleeping: Sleep has been weird for two reasons. One, I've been waking up around 12am feeling stomach pains from hunger. I've been eating more frequently so I wonder if this is just my stomach's way of telling me it's ready for it's next feeding. And when I do wake up hungry, it's usually when I've been dreaming about food! And two, sleep overall has been fairly restless. I go to sleep early and fall asleep easily but wake up several times in the night, not sure what this is about.
Reading: Finished Racing Weight, and reading The Red Pyramid.
Craving: Still craving healthful foods although I will indulge every now and then.
Nutrition: I feel like I'm closing in on what I need to be doing while on the course. I did a sweat test and have been using various bars/gels/chews to find the perfect balance.
Feeling:
Swim- nervous, my cramping foot/calf has got me a bit nervous. But, since letting go of the pull buoy, it's been going ok so I'm hopeful.
Bike- reassured, the past couple outdoor rides, I've really been feeling more comfortable on my bike. I'm starting to enjoy riding again!
Run- confident, my run feels the strongest lately. I couldn't be happier about that since that's what I'll be finishing the race doing and when I'll be feeling the most fatigued.
High- Getting 3rd in my age group at the Shannon Brewery 5K and the St. Patricks Day Sprint Tri
Low- Getting sick at the end of the month and missing workouts
