Monday, I woke up pretty sore from the mere 6 strength training workouts I did on Sunday. I rode the trainer for 30 minutes and was saddened to notice that my legs felt tired after (I'm definitely loosing my fitness level). But, I was quickly cheered up with the deliciousness that was my breakfast: pumpkin steel cut oats made in the rice cooker! It made A LOT and have been able to enjoy it all week long. I've posted the recipe on my recipes page if you're interested.
Tuesday, I went to the pool for a 57 minute swim. I totaled 1600 meters and discovered that I comfortably swam 100 meters in 1 minute 50 seconds. Not spectacular but not too bad either. However, the swim felt off the whole time, I felt super tired and struggled to get through my drills. I realize that not all workouts are going to feel fabulous, this is just the first time I've had a not so great workout one in the pool. |
Friday night, we spent the evening at my parents' house celebrating my dad's birthday. We got my dad a tri suit since he was going to participating in his very first triathlon on Sunday with us!
Saturday, I went for a 22 minute ride, nice and easy, just to get blood flow to my legs AND to practice cycling in the aero position! I was pretty nervous but I went to a secluded, flat road where I just went back and forth slowly putting one arm down, and then the other, and then popping out of it quickly because I got scared, until I rode down the whole road in aero. It was fabulous! So fun!
And Sunday, we got up early and participated in the Keller Monster Triathlon where I got 6th in my age group and a new PR of 1:23:21! Race report to follow!
