Monday: Rest/Slide Day
I did rest but I did my PT exercises. It's funny how hard I'm been avoiding using all of the muscles that he has me targeting, these exercises are challenging!
Tuesday: Run 60 mins, Swim 60 mins
I did just that. I went out on my run and turned on This American Life. The podcast I listened to on Monday's title was "Three Miles," it felt all too appropriate for my run so I snap a shot of it. It was an incredibly interesting podcast about two groups of students going to two different schools 3 miles apart and how vastly different their experiences were, definitely recommend it!
So I have a confession to make, I have not been using my legs during swim workouts. I use the pull bout the entire time. I started this when my legs started hurting because I figured they could use the break and how hard is kicking anyway, right? Wrong, I decided I'm going to have to use my legs for 1.2 miles in New Orleans so I should start practicing kicking with my freestyle. Whelp, my calfs cramped up bad. I'm in big trouble, if they cramp in the open water. So needless to say, my pull buoy days are behind me.
This has turned into one of my favorite workouts because I always feel so strong coming off the bike and my run seems to fly by. I'm trying out Newton Running shoes. The Hoka One Ones didn't end up being the one so I'm frantically on the search before New Orleans gets here.
Matthew was going out of town this weekend for work so he asked to use the trainer in the morning and I had an early meeting so I didn't workout in the morning at all. I ended up eating a quick pb&j on the way home from work so I could quickly jump on the trainer for my bike workout.
I went to the pool to get my swim completed. I only used the pull buoy to give my near cramping legs a break. I'm somewhat on the verge of freaking out about this but I figure I've got 4 more weeks to get my legs used to kicking so surely it will come.
Friday night, I went to hang out with a friend of mine who was house sitting. It's always so nice to hang out with her and I appreciated getting out of training mode and just be. We enjoyed pizza, salad and wine in transformer cups!
Saturday's weather was so rude. It would not decide if it was going to rain all day or what. My dad and I had planned to go for a ride but when we couldn't figure out the weather we decided I'd come over to my parents house, set up the trainer in their media room and we could have a trainer session together. My mom joined us on the treadmill. It was fun having the family all working out together!
Sunday: Bike 30 mins easy spins, Run 2:15
I was actually looking forward to this workout. After last week's mild run week I was ready to run until I just couldn't anymore. I got up and spun easy on the trainer then got my stuff ready and went to the Keller parks to run. I ran the entire extent of the trails, doubling back on some sections. It was misty/drizzly the whole time but I just couldn't help myself from enjoying all the green that's coming out. I was keeping my pace pretty steady and I got excited at mile 9 because I thought I'd finally be able to get to 13.1 miles during a training run. And I did!! It was so awesome! I was so pumped, I figured I could let the last minute and a half go and stop.
Swim: 2:00
